This is a salaried position assigned to the Elko County School District (ECSD) Teacher Salary Schedule.
POSITION SUMMARY: The teacher will implement into daily student instruction appropriate educational curriculum based on the Nevada Common Core Standards and the course syllabi. The teacher will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school and district programs and goals. This person reports directly to the school site administrator.

- Administer appropriate district curriculum which is aligned with the Nevada Common Core Standards.
- Conduct classes on the concepts and skills in the English language education to pupils.
- Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition in the instructional environment.
- Develop and implement the Components of an Effective Lesson for instruction.
- Analyze student progress and provide appropriate instruction.
- Provide a classroom management/discipline plan ensuring safety at all times.
- Provides specialized instruction for the purposes of developing the students’ ability to effectively perform courses of study in English and acquire the English language.
- Ensure assessment regulations and guidelines are followed at all times.
- Develop a classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions.
- Work professionally with administrators, staff, parents, and community.
- Integrate technology into the instructional program.
- Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment.
- Participate in other job-related duties and activities related to the position as assigned.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
- Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to provide instruction in a classroom.
- Work cooperatively with students, parents, peers, administration, and community members.
- Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with instructional objectives, in order to meet the needs of all students.
- Participate as an active member with other faculty and staff.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Communicate effectively both written and orally.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to English language acquisition.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by administrator.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Training: Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess, or be able to acquire, a Nevada Educational License issued by the Nevada Department of Education.
- Must hold, or be able to hold, the appropriate ESL endorsement which matches the assignment.
- Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher requirements upon hire.
